Option 1: The AL1-2 Model : (A combination of Picture 2 and Picture 3) Overcoming a Great Fear
The school auditorium was a cavernous beast, filled with the terrifying hum of a thousand whispers. Peeking from behind the heavy velvet curtains, my heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped bird. Today was the annual storytelling competition, and it was my turn next. A cold, clammy sweat broke out across my forehead, and my hands, clutching the crumpled script, shook uncontrollably. The mere thought of standing before the entire school was paralyzing.
“Next up!” the emcee announced, his voice echoing through the hall.
My legs felt like lead. Panic, cold and sharp, gripped my chest. Just as I was about to turn and bolt, a warm, gentle hand rested on my shoulder. It was Mr. Lim, my form teacher.
“Take a deep breath,” he advised softly, his eyes filled with unwavering belief. “You know this story inside out. Speak from your heart.”
His words were a much-needed lifeline. I closed my eyes, inhaled deeply, and stepped into the blinding glare of the spotlight. The sea of expectant faces blurred into a single entity. At first, my voice wavered, but as I delved into the familiar narrative, the knot of fear in my stomach began to unravel.
By the time I delivered the final line, the auditorium erupted into deafening applause. A radiant smile stretched across my face. I had not only conquered the stage but also the crippling voice of doubt in my head. The taste of victory had never been sweeter.

Option 2: The AL3-4 Model : (A combination of Picture 2 and Picture 3) Overcoming a Great Fear
It was the day of the school storytelling competition. I stood behind the stage curtains, feeling incredibly nervous. My palms were sweaty and I had a swarm of butterflies in my stomach. When I looked out at the large audience, I felt like crying. I was terrified of speaking in front of so many people. What if I forgot my lines and everyone laughed at me?
Suddenly, I heard the emcee call my name. My legs were shaking so much that I could barely walk. I wanted to run away and hide. Just then, my teacher, Mr. Lim, walked up to me.
“Don’t be scared,” he said kindly, putting a reassuring hand on my shoulder. “You have practised very hard for this. Just do your best.”
Hearing his encouraging words made me feel much better. I took a deep breath and walked up to the microphone. At first, my voice was very soft. However, when I saw my friends smiling and nodding at me, I felt more confident. I spoke loudly and clearly for the rest of the story.
When I finished, everyone clapped loudly. I felt a huge wave of relief and happiness. I was extremely proud of myself for not giving up. I learned that we must be brave and face our fears, no matter how scary they seem.
